Wisdom of the Elders: An Intergenerational Documentary Project

The Wisdom of the Elders (WOE) program, conceived by Associate Professor of English Ifeoma Nwankwo, serves African American seniors in Rutherford County. The program aims to teach seniors to value their health and celebrate their lives by sharing their life stories in recorded interviews, art, and creative writing. In 2013, WOE received a Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) four-star award for Best Community Center Program. Fellows Nadejda Webb and Queen Stevenson began creating a telephone application that allows seniors to call and share their oral histories.
