Mary and Harry Zimmerman were the founders of Service Merchandise retail stores, which evolved from a single store in Pulaski, Tennessee, in 1934 into the nation’s largest catalog showrooms in the 1960’s. Harry Zimmerman received the B'nai B'rith National Jewelry Industry Man of the Year Award in 1974. The Vanderbilt Judaica Collection was named in their honor after a generous gift from their son.
