Raymond Zimmerman was Chairman/CEO of Service Merchandise, a company founded by his parents, Mary and Harry Zimmerman. In 1988, the Raymond Zimmerman Family Foundation donated $500,000 to Vanderbilt’s Judaica Collection in honor of Raymond’s parents, stipulating that the money should be spent down quickly. The Nahum Glatzer Collection was purchased with money from this gift.
