On October 18, 1924, Grange reached legendary status against the University of Michigan, who had not been beaten in 20 straight games. Within 12 minutes, he scored four touchdowns. Later in the game, he scored his fifth touchdown and threw a 23-yard touchdown pass. Illinois won this game 39-14. Even though Red ended his season injured, he was again selected as an All-American. Grange would go on to earn All-American recognition for 3 consecutive years. After his last game, Red left college immediately and went professional, touring with the Chicago Bears. Grange received much of the credit for leading fans from college to an interest in professional football. It is said that Grange brought respectability and popularity to the sport.</text>

<text>Mildred Ella “Babe” Didrickson Zaharias, 1911-1956, was an Olympic track and field medalist who was also one of the greatest women golfers of all time. Grantland Rice considered her one of the best athletes he’d known and had a great fondness for her. Here she is depicted winning a track race for her company sponsored team the Employers' Casualty Insurance Company of Dallas in 1932. Representing her company in the 1932 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championships, she competed in eight out of ten events, winning five outright, and tying for first in a sixth. In the process, she set four world records in the javelin throw, 80-meter hurdles, high jump, and baseball throw in a single afternoon of competition. She went on to Los Angeles for the 1932 Olympics and won gold medals in the javelin and the 80-meter hurdles and a silver medal in the high jump. Almost overnight, she had become the most famous female athlete in the world.</text>
