John Seigenthaler, 1917-2014, was an eminent journalist, author,civil rights leader and founder of the First Amendment Center. His papers are a treasure trove of materials that document his life in these roles. From his earliest days as a young journalist at The Tennessean to his final years as leader of the First Amendment Center he was an activist for civil rights, the first amendment and professionalism in journalism. The papers contain correspondence, drafts of articles and books, research, photographs and audio visual materials.
