An artist's book in a modified concertina format. The base of the book is an approximately 17 x 140 cm. horizontal sheet of heavy eggshell-colored paper, folded concertina-style to form six interior leaves (17 x 15 cm. each) and front and back covers. A grommet in the upper outer corner of each cover holds an inward-folded flap in place. On the outer side of the base sheet (i.e., the side with the outer cover surfaces at its ends) are printed facsimile reproductions of portions of a typed and annotated manuscript, in green, arranged within lines of purple. On the inner side of the base sheet, six smaller concertina-folded sheets (unfolding to 48 x 14 cm.) are tipped in, one at the upper edge of each leaf, so that they may be unfolded downward to display the text of the poem, as well as bibliographical references and a colophon.

"This books's [sic] structure and design attempts [sic] to recreate the original process that the poem was written in. The text on the back cover is from the original [sic] manuscript ... From Ryan Flaherty: Rather than composed, the poem was constructed from several years' worth of notes, which were either written for this poem or were pieces that fell off other poems. Over a month long period, I cobbled these fragments together on 3 by 6 foot sheets of paper tacked to an unused door propped in my attic"--Colophon.
"Designed and printed in the Spring of 2009 by Friedrich Kerksieck. Images and Perpetua typefaces were reproduced with photopolymer plates on a Vandercook 4 at the University of Alabama. Text for the book was printed on handmade abaca/cotton paper. The cover is handmade from Alabama Kozo, abaca, cotton, flax, and linen. Both papers pulled by FK with help from E.L. Tipps in the Lost Arch Papermill"--Colophon.
