"Printed at Hoopnake Press in the fall of 1994."

An artist's book in an octagonal shape. Bound in linen over board with a round panel containing title and vignettes inset on front cover. Velcro closure. Hand-stitched two-leaf signatures.

"Contains five digital photos, 14 woodcuts, and three digital prints"--Vamp & Tramp Booksellers website, viewed Oct. 4, 2013.
"The text and the majority of the woodcuts in this book were printed at Hoopsnake Press at its former location in Tupelo, MIssissippi. The book was exhibited as a narrative insert in a sculptural compass in the exhibition Breaking Barriers at the American Craft Museum in New York City in 1996. The text was set in fourteen-point century type and the titles were set in hand in a variety of faces. The papers are acid free. Mohawk Letterpress was used to print the text and an all-rag Lennox was used for the woodcuts. Two new woodcuts were added to the editioned work and the final printing was done at the press'[s] new location in Orlando, Florida. The edition binding was done by Gardyloo Handmade Books of Orlando. Larry Cooper designed the binding and Ke Francis printed the woodcut inset. The edition consists of fifty signed copies, five of which are deluxe copies with silver print photos instead of photo-lithos in the Compass Plots portfolio. There are five artist's proofs and two unsigned examination sets. This book is number ... of the signed edition of fifty books which were completed and signed in September of 1997"--Colophon.

The majority of the edition was stored after its 1997 letterpress printing until 2004, when digitally-printed images were added or previously printed images were re-printed digitally, or both. The edition was then issued in its final form.
