Chasing the Sun
Hamrick, Frank, 1977-

An artist's book in concertina format, consisting of a folded sheet glued at one end to the inside back cover and forming 13 pages. The sheet bears only stains made by cooking the paper in tea. The stains stretch horizontally across the whole sheet, front and back, and are apparently intended to suggest a panoramic view of the horizon as viewed while traveling through the American Southwest. A statement by the artist appears on a foldout from the front pastedown endpaper; the colophon appears on the pastedown. Bound in quarter cloth with boards covered in similarly stained paper.
"These books were made using mocha and gray Hahnemühle Bugra papers, .098 Davey binder's board, brown Canapetta bookcloth and Jade #711 PVA glue. The text is Adobe Garamond Pro and was printed on an etching press"--Colophon.
