A single-instance (one of a kind) artist's book with text and illustrations related to economic concepts of needs and wants.
In a double accordion-fold format. Separate, side-by-side accordion constructions, in reflection symmetry, are mounted on a shared back board covered in textured green paper with brown accents. Each construction has its own front board, covered in the same textured green paper, with two decorative brads at its inner edge for thread closures. The title appears on panels inset in the front boards. When the accordion constructions are rotated outward to the sides of the book, a trifold sheet may be unfolded downward from the interior of the back board. Illustrative elements include pop-up features with cutouts, two pairs of hands cut out of Mylar and tipped in, a rotating pointer and a sliding strip with two different options for the completion of a phrase of text. A narrow piece of board material, covered in the same textured green paper, is glued at the outer edge of each front board to assist in unfolding, and two more brad-and-thread closures are on the back cover.

"What Is the Sound of Two Invisible Hands Clapping? is an exploration of how we, as individuals, expand, blur, and redefine wants and needs while evaluating our own and society's levels of wealth, well-being, inequality, and fairness. What are the individual and collective consequences when we redefine something as a need that we once saw as a want? What shapes our approach to assessing and balancing individual and collective needs/wants?
