Grantland Rice, 1880-1954, visiting with President Warren G. Harding, 1865-1923, Ring Lardner, 1885-1933, and Secretary of State Henry P. Fletcher, 1873-1959, at the White House. Rice played golf with the President a number of times. This photograph shows the duffers prior to hitting the links. Rice chronicled the outing for the American Golfer in an article entitled “The President’s Golf Game” which was published in the April 23, 1921 issue.
