Carson McCullers (1917-1967) wrote eight books, The Member of the Wedding being among one of the most notable. Her writing is often described as Southern Gothic and is reflective of her southern roots. This story captures a young girl's feelings at her brother's wedding. It was turned into a play and had a successful Broadway run in 1950–51. This first-edition copy has McCuller's presentation inscription to Bob [Robert Linscott, editor at Houghton Mifflin] on the title page.
