The first draft of Paul Dokecki's chapter, which would later appear in the published version of Academics in Action! : A Model for Community-Engaged Research Teaching and Service. Dokecki was approached by J.R. “Bob” Newbrough to contribute a chapter to the project in the early 2000s. The published version of this essay was written by Dokecki in conjunction with several other members of the Human and Organizational Development department.
